BREAKING UPDATE: Shooting Suspect Identified
JACKSON, Tenn. – Jackson police identify shooting suspect as Michael Smith, Sr., 41, of Jackson. The victim, according to police, was his wife, Christy Smith, 36. Investigators were called to the couple’s home on Holly Ridge Cove just after 10 p.m., Friday. Christy was found dead inside the home from a single gunshot wound. Michael was arrested just before 1:30 a.m., Saturday, at his place of work, SAIA Motor Freight Line on Industrial Drive. Officers say they found him in one of the building’s bathrooms with the assistance of a police dog. Investigators believe the couple argued before the shooting. Michael Smith will be formally charged with second degree murder when he makes his first court appearance, Monday morning.
