Cronan, Roberts join Summitt Foundation board
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee women’s athletic director emeritus Joan Cronan and “Good Morning America” co-host Robin Roberts have joined the Pat Summitt Foundation advisory board.
The foundation announced Friday the additions of Cronan, Roberts and John Dougherty to the group’s advisory board. Dougherty, the medical director of Cole Neuroscience Center at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, will co-chair the foundation’s medical advisory council.
Cronan was the Tennessee women’s athletic director from 1983-84 until 2011. Roberts was executive producer of “Pat XO,” a documentary on Summitt’s life.
Summitt established her foundation in 2011 to support research dedicated to fighting Alzheimer’s disease. Summitt led the Tennessee women’s basketball team to eight national titles before stepping down as the Lady Vols’ coach in April 2012, one year after announcing she had early-onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type.
