High School Students Attend Technology Summit

EAST JACKSON — Jackson State Community College hosted a youth technology summit at its main campus, Thursday afternoon. The event is designed for high school juniors interested in pursuing a stem career track. Teachers and counselors nominated the students in attendance. Individuals participated in career exploration, hands-on activities and facility tours. “We hope we gave them the information necessary to go forward with that, what classes to take in high school, how to prepare to go to college, what classes they need to take when they get to college and what they will get as a benefit once they get into the field,” Cathi Roberts, retention specialist at JSCC, said. Each student had a choice of three paths including science and math, computer technology, engineering and manufacturing technology.
