South Side Returns to the State Championship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Revenge is a dish best served cold. “It feels great. Those kids have been working hard all season,” said South Side head coach Damonn Fuller. For the second straight year, South Side’s boys basketball team advances to the Class AA State Championship. Their 59-57 semifinal victory over Christ Presbyterian Academy makes the accomplishment more special. CPA defeated the Hawks in the championship last season. On Tuesday evening, South Side brought an end to the Lions 94-game winning streak. “Chris McNeal stepped up. He showed the state of Tennessee that he can lead the team to the state championship,” said Fuller. South Side’s plays East Nashville on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Class AA State Championship. Highlights and reaction from the game will be featured on WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News at 10 on Saturday evening.
