MARTIN, Tenn., — The University of Tennessee at Martin Woman’s basketball team earned their spot in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth year in a row. Seniors on the Team, Megan White, Heather Butler, and Jasmine Newsome say after Saturday’s OVC championship win, their focus is getting their first win in the big dance. “This time we really want to go there and make a huge statement and get a win. I know we can do it,” said Butler. The team tells WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News practice has been about getting younger players ready to play bigger teams. “Definitely having three seniors that have been through these hard games and played these teams, going through conference, I feel like we’ve rubbed off on the younger girls,” said White. All three seniors say no mater what seed they get, or who they are picked to play, they are satisfied with their careers with UTM. “These four years I wouldn’t change them for nothing and to have an OVC championship each year is a huge accomplishment. Not many people can say they have that,” said Butler. The team will have a selection party Monday at 5:30.
