First Concert in Downtown Amphitheater Slated for May

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Wednesday’s sunshine came just at the right time for crews working on the new amphitheater in Downtown Jackson. The outdoor venue, located near the farmer’s market, has been in the works for month, but there is still a bit of work to be done. “The other equipment that is needed for the amphitheater is already in, so as soon as they get the shell on we’ll finish that and we’ll be ready to open up the first week in May,” Jimmy Exum, the chairman of the Amphitheater Committee said. The building will hold up to 1,600 people. The amphitheater expects to host its first concert May 2.
