Generals Park Prep for Season Home Opener

JACKSON, Tenn.- Crews at the Ballpark at Jackson have been taking advantage of the great weather recently as they gear up for their home opener in April. Last season the team saw a high number of rain outs, a lot in part to the outfield’s faulty drainage system. During the off-season, the field was completely redone. Now there is new sod down and it Is ready for play. Experts said the good weather could not have come at a better time. “Typically, with Bermuda grass you want 85 or above weather and soil temperatures you want those up there and with all this cold weather it’s just really hurt the Bermuda,” said Marty Wallace, head turf manager of the Jackson Generals. The Generals home opener is set for Wednesday, April 9 against the Mississippi Braves. First pitch goes out at 7:05 p.m.
