WEST JACKSON — Now that it’s officially spring, many are asking when is the best time to start planting your garden. Experts say if you want to plant summer vegetables like tomatoes and peppers, you may want to wait, even if the temperatures seem warmer now. However they say there are some veggies you can plant while it’s still cooler outside. Craig Canaday, Researcher with the University Of Tennessee “If they have some cold hardy plants particularly transplants already grown like for cabbage or broccoli they could set those out now.” Researchers say waiting until after April 20 will be best time if you want to plant summer vegetables.
