BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. – Brownsville Police confirm a MTD Products, Inc. warehouse caught fire early Tuesday morning. There were some workers inside the warehouse when the fire started, but there were no injuries, according to law enforcement on the scene. Edna Sweat, an employee of 33 years, safely escaped the fire. “We were working and just heard a loud boom,” Sweat recalled. Moments later, Sweat said she saw smoke coming from behind a door. “By the time we got out flames were shooting out of the roof already,” Sweat said. MTD Officials said it’s too early to determine just how much damage was done or if they will remain open. Employees like Sweat said they are preparing for the worst. “I don’t think there is anything we can do at this point and they will shut the place down,” Sweat said. “I think I may just have to retire.” Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
