First Tennessee Celebrates 150th Birthday

NORTH JACKSON — Happy birthday to First Tennessee Bank, as it celebrates 150 years in business. Founded in Memphis in 1864, First Tennessee has branches across the state, including Jackson. To help celebrate this milestone, the bank is giving away $5,000 a day for 150 days to qualifying nonprofits. The president of the banks in Jackson says First Tennessee is glad to give back and celebrate their years of survival. “We’ve gone through depression, we’ve gone through the civil war, we’ve gone through the world wars, we’ve gone through the yellow fever epidemic. That just shows our resilience,” Bill White, First Tennessee Jackson Banks President said. Local workers wore top hats to pay homage to former president Abraham Lincoln, who was in office when the bank was founded.
