Man Accused of Preying on Elderly in String of Robberies Arraigned

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The man accused of preying on the elderly in late March and early April was formally charged Monday morning. Mario Hoyle, 31, of Jackson was arraigned on three counts of robbery and one count of theft. Hoyle’s bond was set at $300,000. He will be back in court on April 17. Investigators have learned that Hoyle is a sex offender who was convicted of sexual battery in 2001 for an attack on a then 12-year-old girl in Jackson. The victims range in age from 79 to 83.
