According to Mark Azbill with Tennessee Highway Patrol, the story started around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday following a single-car roll-over wreck along State Highway 114. Witnesses on the scene said that a 5-year-old, believed to have head injuries, was ejected from the car during the wreck. When the witness approached to help, James Cody Melton, the driver, allegedly refused and carried the child into the woods.
