JACKSON, Tenn. — Peter Shannon, the new conductor for the Jackson Symphony, made his debut Saturday night at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. The symphony played with the Jackson Symphony Young Orchestra, for what some say was the biggest crowd in a long time. A post-concert reception was also hosted by The Symphony League so that community members could meet the new conductor. Shannon comes to the symphony after nearly 2 years of searching and more than 150 applications for the position.
