Charges Dropped Against Pair Charged in March Shooting

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Charges were dropped against the men police say were involved in a shooting near Jackson State Community College last month. All charges against Demarco Davis, 24, and Brandon Chism, 23, were dropped during their court appearance Thursday morning. The witness failed to show up to the hearing. The two men were charged after police responded to a shots fired call outside of Park Ridge Apartments on March 11. There were no injuries in the shooting. At the time of the shooting, Chism, Davis and a woman were taken into custody for questioning. The woman was later released without any charge. Both were originally charged with simple assault.
