DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A ministry that serves the homeless and low-income individuals took time to say thanks to those who assist with the Room in the Inn program. Leaders with Area Relief Ministries held their 7th volunteer thanks breakfast on Thursday morning. During the breakfast, ARM took time to honor local volunteers and churches that sheltered the homeless this past winter. The program is a partnership between ARM and area churches in which the churches host the homeless nightly during the winter months and provide dinner, breakfast and friendship. Officials say the past winter was especially busy because of the extreme winter. Forty-seven local churches and an estimated 4,000 volunteers gave more than 20,000 hours to provide more than 3,500 beds to 100 different homeless men.
