Baybears Rally Late and Roll Past Generals in Opener

From Generals News Release: MOBILE, ALA. (APRIL 24, 2014) – The Jackson Generals began their five-game series with the Mobile Baybears at Hank Aaron Stadium Thursday, looking to extend its winning streak to three-games– fell victim to an eighth-inning rally and lost 8-3. The Generals faced an early deficit as Mobile went up 2-0 in the first inning. Jackson rallied in the fourth as Mike Dowd (1-4, RBI) provided an RBI single to score Dan Paolini (1-2, R, 2 BB) Jamal Austin (1-4, RBI, R) followed with his first career Double-A home run to tie the game at 2-2. Mickey Wiswall (1-4, RBI, R) added a solo homer of his own in the sixth to give the Generals their first lead of the game at 3-2. David Peralta scored on a ground out by Jordan Parraz to tie the game in the home half of the sixth inning. With the game tied 3-3, Mobile scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth to retain the lead for the first time since the fourth inning. The BayBears sent 11 batters to the plate and rattled off seven straight hits against reliever Moises Hernandez. James Gillheeney (0-0) made his first Double-A start of the season after being activated from Triple-A Tacoma. Gillhenney went five innings and allowed three runs on eight hits and recorded two strikeouts. Jochi Ogando (0-1, 15.00 ERA) will face Mobile right-hander Chase Anderson (2-2, 1.08 ERA).
