Former City Councilwoman Arraigned on Theft Charges

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A well-known Hardeman County woman is arraigned on theft charges after police say she stole merchandise from a department store in Jackson. Former city councilwoman Brenda Woods was arraigned Monday in Madison County Circuit Court on two counts of theft stemming from alleged shoplifting incidents at Macy’s in Jackson on Nov. 13 and 14. She was indicted by a Madison County grand jury on April 28. The 57-year-old is accused of stealing more than $250 in merchandise.
