Beer Board Denies Request Because of Lack of Parking

WEST JACKSON — A request to serve beer at a restaurant where a fatal shooting occurred was denied on Tuesday. The Jackson beer board denied a permit request by Byron Golden who wanted to open a bar and grill along Hollywood Drive. According to councilman Harvey Buchanan, the board denied the permit to because of a lack of parking in the area of where Golden wants to open Bluesville Bar and Grill. In 2008, a Haywood County deputy was shot and killed at the location which housed Spanky’s Bar and Grill at the time. There is no word yet on whether the restaurant will go forward with plans to open.
