Dyersburg Officer Arrested for DUI

DYERSBURG, Tenn.– A Dyersburg Police officer is suspended after accusations of drunk driving. Sgt. Shane Anderson, 44, was placed on unpaid administrative leave, after being pulled over near Newbern early Thursday morning by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, according to Capt. Mark Moody. Anderson was arrested and booked into the Dyer County Jail. He was released on bond around 4 a.m. “If he did something wrong he should be punished like all other Dyersburg citizens,” Melanie Ford, a Dyersburg resident said. Anderson is a 13-year veteran of the Dyersburg Police Department. Employee records show since December of last year, he has been suspended twice for failing to report to work. “It really just taints their image,” Ford said. “But we do have some good officers.” This is the second Dyersburg police officer to be suspended to DUI in the past two months. In March, longtime Dyersburg officer, Jimmy Despain was also arrested on the same charge in Lauderdale County.
