Jackson Teen Charged in All Three Recent Sonic Burglaries

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A 16-year-old has now been charged in a second armed robbery of a Sonic carhop in Jackson. Police say at on April 28 around 4:50 p.m. a young man walked to at 112 W. University Parkway Sonic and placed an order at an order station. When the carhop brought it out, he allegedly pulled a gun and demanded money. The carhop met the robber’s demands. He then took the money and fled. Investigators believed that this robbery was connected to the April 24 robbery of a Sonic carhop at 2101 N. Highland Avenue because the suspect’s descriptions and the methods of operation in both robberies were similar. The teen was also charged earlier this week in a similar crime in Brownsville on April 28. The teen remains in custody at the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center. Prosecutors have indicated they will seek to have the teen tried as an adult.
