Michie Students Win Trip to Washington D.C.

MICHIE, Tenn. — Congratulations are in order for one local school. The Michie School competed against other schools in Tennessee and across the nation in an energy awareness program, and they won their state division and a trip to Washington, D.C. in June. Parents and students have started some fundraising activities to help with expenses. Money will be pooled to pay students’ way. School officials say they hope at least ten students will be able to go. Earlier this year, the same group of students collected more than 200,000 pounds of recyclable trash with the community.
