JPD: One Stabbed, One Injured in East Jackson Fight

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson Police say one person was stabbed in the chest and another hit in the head after a fight on McRee St. Saturday afternoon. Investigators say the two men knew each other. Officers say a 30-year-old was stabbed in the chest and hand, while a 42-year-old was treated for a head injury. Both men were taken to a local hospital. Officers say neither injury was life threatening. Neighbors who didn’t want to be identified said the scene was scary. “It looked pretty bad. It looked like hands and chest pain. There was blood everywhere,” one resident said. Although police say this wasn’t a random act of violence, it still has neighbors concerned for their safety. Some neighbors say this violence is too close to home. “Stay in the house. I don’t socialize with a whole lot of people. Bullets don’t have eyes. They can hit anybody,” one resident said. They say even though they’ve lived in the neighborhood more than 40 years, it can happen anywhere, but hope the violence will slow down. Police have not yet identified either of the men involved, and say there are not any pending charges with this investigation.
