JACKSON, Tenn.- Tennessee’s Commissioner of Safety and Homeland Security made a stop in Jackson Tuesday. Commissioner Bill Gibbons met with troopers at the Tennessee Highway Patrol Jackson office to discuss state laws and priorities for troopers in Madison County. Gibbons said he plans to visit all eight THP districts in the state this summer, to discuss initiatives like the “Move Over Law,” the “No Refusal Law” and a national campaign called “Drive To Zero”. “The number one priority we have is to have an impact on the number of traffic fatalities in our state,” Gibbons said. “We do that through data driven deployment of our state troopers, trying to have a maximum impact on DUI enforcement.” According to THP Madison County is doing well compared to the rest of the state, with a 40 percent decrease in traffic fatalities.
