Deer Runs into Door at Grocery Store after being Hit by Car

JACKSON, Tenn.- An interesting police call came in just before 12 noon Tuesday. A deer in the parking lot of the Kroger in the West Towne Commons Shopping Center just off the Highway 45 Bypass. Shoppers were stunned to see a young deer barreling at them. The deer, lost control and smashed through the front door of the Kroger after being hit by a car. Police as well as the Wildlife Resources Agency were called to catch the animal that was later caught by a customer. “I’m in here, doing a little of my grocery shopping and all I know like I hear is the glass breaking at the front door saying the deer ran in. So here my lady right here started screaming, took off running we both took off running down the aisle,” said Kroger customer Terrell Thompson. Authorities later confirmed that the deer had to be put down due to the severity of its injuries. Store officials were not open to comment.
