Kroger Employee Jumped in Parking Lot, Police Seek Suspects

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — An attempted robbery in the parking lot of Kroger has police asking for the public’s help. Around 11 p.m. Monday, police were called to Kroger at 941 North Parkway. Police say a Kroger employee was gathering shopping carts on the parking lot when the employee was jumped from behind and assaulted by a man. Two more men, who were with the suspect, then came running up. The suspect who had assaulted the employee then demanded money. The employee said he didn’t have any money, and the three men then ran away together. Investigators learned that the three men were together prior to the robbery in a gold-colored car. The three men were all described as black males, approximately 17 to 19 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed about 160 to 170 pounds. Investigators developed a person of interest in the attack. Video surveillance from Kroger showed this person of interest inside Kroger about 30 minutes before the attack. He is clean-shaven and is wearing a white t-shirt and khaki pants.
