NEWBERN, Tenn. — A local plant is expanding and bringing dozens of jobs to Dyer County. “It’s like a light at the end of the tunnel for some people,” Tyler Boswell, a Dyer County resident said. Royal Building Products, an Atlanta based company, has begun making PVC Pipe at its Newbern facility, and needs more workers to man the line. The company currently manufactures and distributes home building materials. The new addition will be worth more than $24 million and add at least 85 jobs in Dyer County. “Things are on the up and up,” Boswell said. “Now hopefully it will help those who are struggling get on their feet.” A report from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development shows in April, Dyer County has an unemployment rate of almost ten percent, well above the state average of 6.3 percent. Job seeker, Jeremy Moore said it’s a reminder that a lot of people aren’t working. “It may not help a lot but it’s a start,” Moore said. Executives for the company have started hiring, and encourage interested applicants to apply on the career section of the company’s website, which you can find here: http://www.royalbuildingproducts.com/careers/#.U3-pE3JdWKE
