Senior Expo Celebrates Older Americans Month
JACKSON, Tenn.- Some West Tennessee seniors took a trip to the county fair, Thursday. In celebration of Older Americans Month, a senior expo was held in downtown Jackson at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. The event featured carnival games at each booth and food contests for best pickles, cornbread and pies. Organizers said they hope the expo helps participants enjoy their golden years. “There are many services that are available to seniors that we hope they will take advantage of. And one of the main things we want to do is have a healthy lifestyle and enjoy their senior years,” said Joe Barker with the Southwest Tennessee Development District. The seniors also were able to get information on health related issues such as medicare and other senior-related topics.
