Car Runs into Apartment Building, Man In Custody

JACKSON, Tenn.- Jackson police are investigating why a car ran into an apartment early Friday evening. It happened just before 6:30 p.m. at Park Ridge Apartments on Park Ridge Drive in east Jackson. Officers said the car ran into the corner of one of the apartments and the driver jumped out and ran. Emergency crews were called in to remove the car from the apartment amid concerns the building had been weakened by the crash. Investigators told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News luckily no one was inside the apartment and no injuries were reported. Officers then chased the man into an area behind the apartments. He was then spotted running south along railroad tracks in the area. Officers were able to catch up with him between Conalco Drive and Carver Street just before 7 p.m. The man was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and his condition is unknown. Investigators said the man is facing multiple charges. The incident remains under investigation.
