NAACP Holds 51st Annual Freedom Fund Banquet

SOUTH JACKSON — The 51st annual Freedom Fund Banquet happened Saturday evening in Jackson, as numerous people are honored by the NAACP for their contributions. The event started at 4 pm with a VIP reception in the Tennessee room, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. Some of the people honored Saturday night included, The Beard Dynasty and international model Wakeema Hollis, who is from Jackson; and says she loves giving back to her hometown. “I have really tried to represent myself and my community and my family in a way that people can be proud of,” Hollis said. Both Hollis and the Beard Dynasty were given the Medgar Evers award.
