Last Day of Rockabilly Gran Prix a Success

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Hundreds of bikers from at least 8 different states were in Jackson for the Rockabilly Gran Prix Sunday was the last day for the event with multiple races in Downtown Jackson. Organizers say more than 300 men and women came out for Saturday and Sunday’s races. Professional and amateur cyclists circled around The Lift for more than a mile, where they contended for up to $10,000 in cash and prizes. “USA cycling essentially has categories based on skill level so there’s cat 5s, 4s, 3s and then the pro 1/2,” Bryant Funston said, racer with Marx-Bensdorf of Memphis. “And then in the women’s race you have a similar thing as well as the juniors.” Proceeds from the race will go to Young Life in Jackson.
