WEST JACKSON — Some Madison County employees could soon be getting a raise. According to the county budget committee, the overall general fund is about $550,000. The amount of the raise will vary for each worker, because the county rates their employees on a step scale. Department heads will look at factors like level of experience and number of years the employee has been working. “They’re trying to determine each person in each department who needs to be moved up either to a half step or a whole step,” Ann Harrell, budget chair, said. The committee says they have to make a decision on the proposal by July 1. If approved, the raise will go into effect that same month.
