Man accused of Jackson robbery charged with bribing witness
DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man charged in a Sept. 5 robbery in Jackson now is accused of bribing a witness. According to court papers, investigators listened to a recorded phone call made Sept. 12 by Montreal Portis Robinson while he was jailed on a robbery charge. Investigators say Robinson asked the person he was speaking with to tell the alleged robbery victim to lie about Robinson’s involvement in the robbery. The alleged victim later told investigators the man Robinson had spoken with on the phone had returned a gun and TV taken during the reported robbery. The victim also said the man Robinson had spoken with offered him $500 to drop the charges.
