Groups pitch in with lawn work for local homeowners

MIDTOWN JACKSON — The Lambuth Area Neighborhood Association and Youth Town teamed up Friday to help homeowners beautify their lawns. The organizations picked up trash and mowed lawns. It is all through a program called Halfway Down the Block. The goal is to help homeowners avoid citations due to overgrown grass. Organizers say they understand that following beautification rules can be hard for some residents who are not able to keep up with yard work. “We have a lot of people from all walks of life that live here,” said Brad Greer, immediate past president of LANA. “Some are elderly, some are folks that just have a lot of young children and time becomes difficult. So we just want to reach out and help folks. We love our neighborhood.”
