Jackson police, Kmart host child safety seat inspection station

WEST JACKSON — The traffic division of the Jackson Police Department teamed with Kmart on Friday to host a child safety seat inspection station. The free event was held in the parking lot of Kmart, located on Old Hickory Boulevard. Traffic officers that are certified child passenger safety technicians were there to help drivers ensure their child’s safety seats are properly installed. Safe Kids Worldwide released a new study that finds nine of ten parents stop using booster seats too soon. The organization also recommends double-checking the car seat’s label to ensure it is appropriate for your child’s age, weight and height.
