Fugitive in Middleton school lockdown captured in Miss.

RIPLEY, Miss. — The fugitive whose search in Middleton led to a school lockdown earlier today has been captured, according to U.S. Marshals. Shawn Coggins has been apprehended in Ripley, Miss., according to Marshals. Middleton Elementary School and Middleton High School both went into lockdown status earlier Wednesday as authorities searched for Coggins, according to Hardeman County Sheriff John Doolen. The schools and local businesses were made aware that Coggins was in the area. The schools then made the decision to lock down, according to Doolen. During a routine traffic stop Tuesday night, Coggins was discovered to have a large amount of meth in his vehicle, Doolen said. Coggins then fled the scene and rammed a police car with his vehicle, according to Doolen.
