NORTH JACKSON, Tenn. — City leaders came out Wednesday to celebrate the success of Crime Stoppers. Modern Woodmen of America presented the organization with a $5,000 check to help with their mission of keeping crime off the streets of Jackson. County and city officials also read a proclamation declaring September Crime Stoppers Month. Members of the organization say they are successful because anyone who sends in a tip can remain anonymous. “I believe in the Crime Stoppers program 150 percent,” Lt. Mike Johnson said. “No one has ever had to testify in court since the program started in 1983.” Since the organization started, their efforts have led to more than 3,000 arrests.
