WEST JACKSON — The University of Memphis Lambuth campus is welcoming a new leader for its newly renovated recreation center. Michael Stackens is settling in as the new campus recreation supervisor. Stackens’ new position comes after his work as intramural specialist from the main campus. “I’m glad I was chosen for this job,” Stackens said. “I feel like it’s a challenge, but who doesn’t love a challenge?” He holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management and was on the 2004-2006 roster for the Memphis Tigers football team. “I’m ready to get the job done,” Stackens said. “I’m ready to grow this school. Let’s go Tigers!” Staff and students say they hope the new addition will get the community even more involved. “I think once they’re able to work out the logistics for the community to use our facilities, I think it’ll be a great addition to have people on our campus,” said Renard Miles, a junior at the school. Renovations to the rec center were completed over the summer.
