Man accused of hitting woman with curling iron

EAST JACKSON — A man faces an aggravated assault charge after allegedly punching a woman and hitting her with a curling iron. Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Manchester Bay off North Royal Street in Jackson and spoke with the alleged victim. The woman said Daniel R. Douglas Jr. had assaulted her by punching her in the face continuously and striking her in the head with a curling iron, according to court papers. The woman also told officers that while she was outside trying to get help from neighbors, Douglas pushed her to the ground causing an injury to her shoulder, according to the report. The report goes on to say Douglas forced entry back into the residence through a bedroom window after the woman locked him outside, then fled through the back door when he saw police had arrived. Douglas was taken into custody on North Royal Street. He is being held for a revocation hearing on $10,000 bond.
