Men charged in Bolivar shootout appear in court

BOLIVAR — Two people charged in a shootout in Bolivar earlier this month made their first court appearance Tuesday. Eric Oneal Cheairs and Zedequis Hardy were arraigned in Hardeman County General Sessions Court. Both were formally charged with five counts of aggravated assault. Officers say they recovered 31 shell casings in the parking lot of the Millennium Market in Bolivar. Last Friday, U.S. Marshals arrested the two in Murfreesboro. Cheairs and Hardy are each being held in lieu of $250,000 bond and are both scheduled to appear Oct. 7 for a preliminary hearing.
