MILAN, Tenn. — A burglar has hit two businesses, getting away with almost $2,000 in cash and merchandise, according to the Milan Police Department. The businesses caught the burglar on camera. “This is probably the strangest robbery I’ve ever seen,” said John Duschl, co-owner of FF Vapors. “The guy or girl or whoever it was left money all over the place.” The thief broke into FF Vapors and Arnold’s Beauty School four days apart in mid-September. Milan police said they were not able to connect the two until now. “There were similarities in the way they were broken into,” said Lt. David Blurton with the Milan Police Department. Inside the beauty school, the intruder looks directly at the camera before realizing he is being recorded. Both businesses said they now have invested in new technology to prevent it from happening again. New state-of-the-art cameras installed at FF Vapors cover every part of the store and will automatically call police if they detect any motion. The owners said they hope it will prevent it from happening again. “If you’re going to break in, please, I want to catch you on camera and get you,” said Angela Duschl, the other co-owner at FF Vapors. “I don’t want you to go away.” John Duschl said although his business made it through this burglary, if this thief is not caught, others might not be as lucky. “Financially we’re OK to deal with the little bit he did hit us for, but if he were to hit another company that was just starting out, something like this could have sunk them,” he said. Both owners said the thief seemed to be familiar with the store’s layout. Both businesses are offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest. If you recognize the person from the video above, call Milan Police at (731) 686-3309.
