New appeals court judge takes oath

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Governor Bill Haslam stopped in Jackson Thursday tor the swearing-in ceremony of State Court of Appeals Judge Brandon Gibson. Her investiture ceremony was held in the chancery courtroom of the Madison County Courthouse. Haslam administered the oath. Gibson will serve on the western district appeals court in Jackson. “What attracts me to it is the writing and the thinking and the critical thinking that’s involved with the court of appeals,” Gibson said. She is replacing Judge David Farmer who retired Aug. 31. Gibson is a resident of Crockett County and practiced law in Jackson prior to her selection by the governor as judge.
