Man accused of leaving 3 children home alone for days formally charged

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man accused of leaving three children home alone for days without food was formally charged Wednesday. Michael Waylon Bane Sr. is charged with three counts of child neglect after police found his 9, 10, and 13-year-old children alone Oct. 1 at the family’s South Fairgrounds Street home in West Jackson, according to court documents. The children told police they had been home alone since Sept. 28 without food or a telephone and did not know where their parents were. Bane’s wife, Coty Bane, faces the same charges in the incident. Michael Bane is being held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at 1:30 p.m. Oct 23 for a preliminary hearing.
