WEST JACKSON — The Old Country Store in Casey Jones Village is getting a fresh addition. The store hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for a large vegetable garden and a new Saturday morning farmers market at Casey Jones Village. The newest addition, which store owners call an authentic southern food experience, also will give guests a chance to learn how farmers worked hundreds of years ago. “We’re going to want folks to see what an old farm looked like really at the turn of the century,” said Clark Shaw, CEO of Old Country Store. “The 1890s, early 1900s farm setting with these old Tennessee outhouses, they’re authentic tenant houses from here in Madison County.” The early stages of the farm at Casey Jones Village is expected to be completed by spring of next year. Organizers plan to use vegetables from the farm in the restaurant whenever possible.
