Sub-State on the line for Jackson Christian and TCA

JACKSON, Tenn. – Jackson Christian and Trinity Christian Academy’s girls soccer game started out as a normal city rivalry at the beginning of the year. The mid-season September meeting resulted in a 9-0 Eagles win. “We have to act like it’s a new fresh start and new game,” said junior Ameila Grizzell. The two schools met again on Saturday for a District 15A-AA Championship. JCS won again. “For us, the key is not only to match but beat the intensity of other teams,” said JCS head coach Jeff Lean. The Lions loss didn’t eliminate them from state championship contention. TCA went on to defeat Westwood 3-0 to set up a third meeting against JCS Meanwhile, Jackson Christian routed Raleigh Egypt 15-0 in their Region semifinal game. “We have to remember that this is a good team that we’re coming up against and that we don’t make any mistakes,” said Grizzell. On Thursday, the Lions and Eagles line up one final time for a guaranteed spot in sub-state. The R8A-AA Championship is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Jackson Christian.
