WRAP director honored at business women’s Brown Bag Lunch

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Jackson Business and Professional Women honored a local leader at Thursday’s Brown Bag Lunch at the local library. Daryl Chansuthus, executive director of the Women’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program, was the speaker for Thursday’s lunch and was awarded the 2014 Woman of Achievement honor. The weeklong seminar project highlights a variety of topics as a part of National Business Women’s Week. Chansuthus’ topic, gender equality and violence against women, comes after other seminar topics such as gardening tips and identity theft prevention. “A lot of times people believe that violence — men’s violence against women — is just something that’s them, it’s biological, it’s gonna happen, there’s no cure for it, there’s no way out of it — but there is,” Chansuthus said. The Brown Bag Lunch week will conclude at noon Friday with a special lesson on Social Security presented by a local attorney. Drinks will be provided, but participants must bring their own lunch.
