DOWNTOWN JACKSON — One of the teenagers charged in an attack and robbery of an elderly woman made his first court appearance Friday. Shuan Edwards, 18, was formally charged with several counts including especially aggravated kidnapping and felony theft, according to court documents. Police say Edwards and a 17-year-old male juvenile admitted to breaking into the woman’s home and waiting for her to arrive. The documents state the suspects then tied her up, hit her in the head with a frying pan and took her jewelry and car. The car was recovered the following morning in Humboldt, police have said. Edwards is being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 30 for a preliminary hearing. The juvenile’s first court appearance has not been scheduled.
