Spectators line the streets for Lane College’s Annual Homecoming Parade

EAST JACKSON, Tenn. — Hundreds of alumni returned to Lane College for Homecoming 2014, Saturday. The day full of events began with people lining the historical streets of east Jackson to catch a glimpse of the annual parade. The parade featured local marching bands, advocacy groups, hot rods as well as multiple floats. Kids were tossed candy from those participating in the parade and alumni gathered to share memories from the college. Organizers said the parade drew a larger crowd and more participation than they have seen in recent years. They attribute the success to the beautiful weather and the hard work the alumni association. Alumni from all across the nation returned to Jackson for the weekend celebration. Alumni traveled from Alabama, Mississippi and even Virginia Beach to take part in the festivities. A football game in the afternoon and a dance capped off the fun-filled day. A worship service will be held Sunday.
