Early voting winds down on high note

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Early voting is over in Tennessee, and the polls have seen a spike in voter turnout. Election officials say since early voting began on Oct. 14, more than 10,000 people have cast ballots in Madison County. Thursday, more than 1,200 people showed up at the polls. Officials say what started off as a slow early voting period has ended on a high note. “It’s been going great,” said Kim Buckley with the Madison County Election Commission. “It’s just really smooth. We did not vote as many people the first week or so, but the last three days have just been really busy.” Election day is next Tuesday.
