MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — With near freezing temperatures in our forecast this weekend, experts say now is the time to get your furnace checked. And, if you are not already, start replacing your filter three or four times every year. A new filter makes your furnace more energy efficient and saves money. Experts say a non-working furnace could be deadly. Most utilities offer free services to keep you safe. “We come out and like I said, just make sure the burner and the pilot is burning like it should,” said Fred Cunningham with Jackson Energy Authority. “We also check for carbon monoxide, things like that.” JEA says it will come out to your house for free and inspect your system to make sure it is working properly and light your pilot light if it is not on.
