JACKSON, Tenn.- The University of Memphis Lambuth Campus library hosted a forum, Wednesday on the benefits of therapy dogs. Representatives of the local therapy dog group “Maggie and Friends hosted the discussion. They focused on the roles the dogs play and the training required. Organizers said they want everyone to understand why dogs are man’s best friends. “The stroking of the fur, the just interacting with the dog can create a very beneficial and soothing benefit.” said Jackie Wood, with “Maggie and Friends Therapy.” The program started 10 years when Governor Haslam proclaimed the last week of October “Tennessee Week for the Animals.” This forum is an extension of the library’s observation of that week.
